Golden State Warriors player Draymond Green experienced an unexpected encounter during his offseason tour of China when a large lion-head goose startled him.

The incident occurred while Green was seated outdoors at a table with local dishes. A fan approached him from behind with the goose, causing Green to jump from his seat and exclaim in surprise. Video of the reaction circulated widely on social media.

Despite his reputation for facing formidable opponents on the basketball court for 14 seasons, Green appeared caught off guard by the fowl visitor. After the initial shock, he reportedly laughed off the encounter.

The lion-head goose, also known as the Shitou goose, is native to the Chaoshan region in China's Guangdong province. These geese are notable for their size, with some weighing between 20 and 26 pounds, making them one of the largest cultivated varieties in China. Their name derives from a prominent knob above their bill and loose skin under their throat, which contribute to a lion-like appearance. They are also described as being loud and territorial.

Green was visiting Shantou, a city where the lion-head goose breed is a significant part of the local culture and cuisine. His tour has included meeting supporters, filming content, and sampling regional food.
