Filmmakers are developing a drama, tentatively titled 'Trouble,' that will explore the complex relationship between the late Queen Elizabeth II and her former senior dresser and close confidante, Angela Kelly. The film aims to delve into the extraordinary life of Ms. Kelly, who held significant influence within the royal household.

Bafta winner Jeremy Brock has been commissioned to write the screenplay for the Fox-Searchlight production. Brock previously penned the script for 'A Very Royal Scandal,' a 2024 drama about Prince Andrew's interview with Emily Maitlis. The new film will reportedly be in the style of the Netflix series 'The Crown,' which allows for more creative freedom in storytelling.

Ms. Kelly, 68, a Liverpool-born former crane driver's daughter, was known for her close bond with the Queen, with whom she shared a relationship described as akin to sisters. Her duties included 'wearing in' the monarch's new shoes and assisting with her personal care. However, Ms. Kelly was not universally popular among courtiers and was reportedly nicknamed 'AK-47' due to her initials and a reputation for a strong temper.

The film's development raises questions about how it will navigate the confidentiality agreements Ms. Kelly would have signed during her service, potentially offering a new perspective on the Queen's private thoughts and relationships, including discussions around King Charles III and 'Megxit'.
