Drake London's Fiery Sideline Exchange with Referee Marred Falcons' Upset Victory
The Falcons receiver was captured on video in a heated confrontation with an official during the team's win over the previously undefeated 49ers.
Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Drake London engaged in a heated verbal exchange with a referee during the third quarter of the Falcons' 29-20 upset victory over the San Francisco 49ers. The incident occurred with 5:24 remaining in the third quarter, with the Falcons leading 19-14.
Video footage circulating on social media shows London, who had just been involved in a helmet-to-helmet collision with 49ers safety Malik Mustapha, directing his frustration towards an official on the sideline. While the exact words are not confirmed, online speculation suggests London exclaimed, "You a b—h!"
Despite the confrontation, London was evaluated for a concussion after the hit but was cleared to return to the game. He played a crucial role in the Falcons' victory, catching a 21-yard touchdown reception on the opening play of the first quarter to extend Atlanta's lead. London finished the game as the team's leading receiver, with seven catches for 66 yards and one touchdown.
This is not the first time London has been involved in a public display of frustration. In September, he was part of a viral heated exchange with a fan during a loss to the Carolina Panthers, which he described as getting "personal."
The Falcons' defense secured the victory in the fourth quarter by forcing two turnovers: an interception by Kendal Daniels and a fumble recovery after Jesse Bates forced George Kittle to lose the ball. The Falcons then ran out the clock to seal their win, handing the 49ers their first loss of the season.
