Dr. Oz Showcases Federal Fight Against Healthcare Fraud in New Documentary
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Administrator's film, 'War on Fraud,' highlights investigations into Medicare, Medicaid, and hospice scams.
Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz is spotlighting the federal government's efforts to combat healthcare fraud in a new documentary titled "War on Fraud." The 27-minute film, obtained by Fox News Digital, follows Oz across the country as he examines alleged schemes targeting taxpayer-funded health care programs, including Medicare, Medicaid, and hospice care.
"Fraudsters and criminals don’t give a s--- about you. They want your money, and they will walk all over your health, sacrifice your life and betray society’s trust to get your hard-earned money," Oz stated in the documentary.
The film features appearances from HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and CMS Deputy Administrator Kim Brandt, detailing the administration's actions to crack down on those responsible for exploiting these programs.
Recently, Oz accompanied federal agencies, including the FBI and NYPD, during a crackdown in New York City targeting social adult day care centers suspected of questionable Medicaid billing practices. More than 80 providers in the city received warning letters from CMS as part of this operation. Investigators noted irregularities such as low attendance despite high billing, questionable transportation charges, and falsified sign-in sheets.
"War on Fraud" also examines hospice care, which Oz identifies as a significant area for potential fraud. He points to the Los Angeles area, where an unusually high concentration of hospice providers has raised concerns. The documentary suggests that some operations may involve Russian organized crime groups, enrolling patients in hospice care under false pretenses and subsequently billing Medicare for unrendered services.
The film also touches on large-scale fraud cases, including a $3.7 billion Medicare fraud scheme involving medical equipment companies in Delray Beach, Florida, and the "Feeding Our Future" scandal in Minnesota, which involved $250 million in alleged fraud. The White House Task Force on Fraud, led by Vice President JD Vance, is also featured, highlighting a coordinated effort to expose and combat corruption in government-funded programs.
"War on Fraud" is scheduled for release on Oz's X account on Wednesday at 4 P.M. ET.
