Dr. Alex George, a former contestant on the reality television show 'Love Island' and a mental health advocate, has announced his engagement to his girlfriend, Ellie Migliaccio. Migliaccio is a 26-year-old newly qualified NHS doctor.

George, 35, shared the news of his engagement on social media, posting photos from his proposal in Santorini, Greece, with the caption, "I found her. The ring… The moment… My forever." The post was met with congratulations from friends, family, and fellow celebrities.

Migliaccio, who is from Lincoln, has completed her medical degree at the University of Cardiff and is based in London. Her parents were previously co-directors of an IT consultancy firm that was dissolved in 2021. The couple resides in a home in the Cotswolds valued at over £1 million. Migliaccio attended Pate's Grammar School in Cheltenham, an institution recognized for its academic excellence.

Her path to becoming a doctor involved overcoming A-level results that did not initially meet her expectations for medical school. She pursued a degree in neuroscience through clearing at Cardiff University before transitioning to a biomedical science course. She later gained admission to a graduate medicine program at Bangor University. She has spoken about her determination to pursue medicine, stating, "As long as I had air in my lungs I was never going to give up my ambition of becoming a doctor."

George, who hails from Nantgaredig, Wales, graduated with a medical degree from the University of Exeter in 2015. He worked in emergency medicine at University Hospital Lewisham in London before appearing on 'Love Island' in 2018. Following his time on the show, he returned to medicine part-time and became involved in mental health advocacy. He eventually left full-time medical practice to focus on his campaigning work and podcast, 'The Waiting Room with Dr Alex.'

George has been open about his personal health journey, revealing in February of this year that he had been diagnosed with autism. He has also shared his diagnoses of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in September 2022 and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) last year. His increased focus on mental health campaigning has been partly influenced by the tragic loss of his younger brother, Llŷr, to suicide in July 2020.
