Allan Grimson, a former Royal Navy petty officer convicted of murdering two young sailors, is currently on trial for a series of historical sex offenses. The court heard that Grimson, 66, allegedly told police that the only way to get away with raping someone is to kill them afterward.

Grimson was sentenced to life in prison in 2001 for the murders of Sion Jenkins, 20, and Nicholas Wright, 18. The killings occurred in the 1990s, with Grimson murdering the sailors in his Portsmouth flat on two dates exactly one year apart before dumping their bodies.

He is now facing 11 counts of indecent assault, one count of rape, and one count of taking indecent photographs of a child. The alleged offenses involve four teenage male victims and are said to have occurred between February 1994 and November 1999, around the same time as the murders. The victims were aged between 14 and 18 at the time.

Winchester Crown Court heard that Grimson told police in 1999, "If you're going to rape somebody, to get away with it, kill it. And that's the only way you can do that." He also allegedly stated that one of his sex assault victims was "lucky" to be alive because he would have killed him had his friend not been present.

Prosecutors stated that Grimson would look for young males he could befriend and dominate, deriving satisfaction from "getting power over" them. He served as an instructor at the Royal Navy Firefighting School in Horsea Island, Portsmouth, and several alleged offenses took place at his flat. One victim, who was 14 in 1999, reportedly visited Grimson's flat for firefighting courses and nights out, allegedly being sexually assaulted shortly before Jenkins' murder.

Another alleged incident involved a victim who joined the Royal Navy in 1997 and attended Grimson's firefighting course. The assault is said to have occurred at a relative's home in the North East of England after a night out. The victim later revealed he had been assaulted while asleep or unconscious, citing embarrassment and fear for his Royal Navy career due to the illegality of homosexuality at the time.

Grimson denies all the charges. The trial is expected to last four weeks.
