A DoorDash driver in Houston continued her delivery after being struck by a vehicle driven by a man fleeing police. The incident occurred on a residential street when the driver had just parked her car to deliver food.

A gray sedan, driven by Torrance Whitaker, 35, then sped down the block and collided with the driver and her parked car. Surveillance footage captured the moment the delivery person was hit, with the woman landing on the hood of Whitaker's sedan.

Following the collision, the food the driver was carrying was thrown from her hand. Whitaker exited his vehicle and fled on foot, with the delivery driver seen picking up the scattered order. She briefly paused to observe the police pursuit before proceeding to complete the delivery at the intended house.

An officer asked the driver if she was alright, to which she responded, "Yeah, I'm good." The officer then appeared to direct her to sit on a nearby lawn.

Whitaker continued to evade authorities, running through multiple backyards and over fences. He was eventually apprehended with the assistance of K-9 units. His capture was observed by neighbors whose surveillance cameras recorded his flight.

Authorities identified Whitaker as the suspect who had been fleeing a traffic stop, as he was reportedly wanted for burglary. He faces additional charges including evading arrest with a vehicle and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, stemming from the pursuit and the collision with the delivery driver.

According to Harris County Sheriff's Office records, Whitaker's total bond is set at $120,000, with the aggravated assault charge accounting for $75,000 of that sum. Records indicate Whitaker had a prior warrant for burglary.

The driver, who declined to be identified, told ABC13 that she is experiencing significant pain but has not sustained any broken bones. She is reportedly considering filing an insurance claim against Whitaker.
