A DoorDash driver in Houston continued her delivery after being struck by a suspect fleeing police in a high-speed chase. The incident occurred Wednesday afternoon in the Greater Greenspoint neighborhood.

The driver had parked her car outside a customer's home when a silver sedan, driven by Torrance Whitaker, careened toward her. The driver attempted to avoid the vehicle, but it collided with her car and struck her, throwing her onto the hood of Whitaker's car.

Whitaker then exited his vehicle and fled on foot, pursued by law enforcement. The driver recovered the food order that had fallen into the street and proceeded to deliver it to the customer. A neighbor, Lily Portillo, told KRTK that the driver appeared to be okay after the incident and noted the driver's dedication.

An officer returned to the scene to check on the driver, who stated she was alright. She did not sustain broken bones but reported experiencing significant pain. She intends to file a claim against Whitaker's insurance for vehicle damage and has filed a complaint with the Houston Police Department, alleging bodily injury.

Whitaker, who was wanted for burglary, evaded officers by jumping fences and running through yards before being apprehended by a police K-9 unit. He has been charged with felony evading arrest and aggravated assault on the DoorDash driver.
