A DoorDash driver in Jacksonville, North Carolina, was allegedly struck with a wooden bat by another driver after honking at a vehicle that failed to move at a green light. The incident occurred on a Saturday morning as the driver was attempting to make a delivery.
According to the DoorDash driver's account, the driver of a Range Rover followed her after the initial encounter at the red light. The Range Rover reportedly passed her delivery location and returned as she was walking back to her car. The driver of the Range Rover is then accused of hitting her on the head with a wooden bat, causing her to lose consciousness.
After regaining consciousness, the DoorDash driver drove herself to the hospital. The Onslow County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident. Sheriff Chris Thomas stated that there does not appear to be a clear motive, but road rage is a possible explanation, though it remains an assumption at this point.
The sheriff's office has stated that they would like to speak with the driver of the Range Rover. While road rage is a potential motive, officials acknowledge that there could be other factors contributing to the incident.
