DoorDash Customer Retrieves Order from Driver at Crash Scene
A viral video shows a customer picking up his food from a DoorDash driver who had been involved in a car accident in Maryland.
A DoorDash customer captured a unique delivery experience when he picked up his order directly from the driver at the scene of a car crash in Bowie, Maryland. The incident gained widespread attention after being shared on social media.
Glenn Ndibnu, the customer, recorded himself arriving at the accident site on Church Road, where multiple ambulances were present. He explained in the video that the DoorDash driver had informed him about the collision and offered to meet him to hand over the food.
"I DoorDashed some food, and my DoorDasher told me he got in a car accident, and he was like, ‘I can come meet him and get the food from him,'" Ndibnu stated in the recording. He expressed his hesitation and concern about retrieving his order from the crash site, saying, "I think that’s my food right there. Is it f—ed up for me to walk across and pick it up?"
Ndibnu ultimately collected his food and later apologized to the driver, identified as William Koroma. Following the incident, Koroma launched a GoFundMe campaign to help cover the costs associated with the accident.
According to Koroma's description on the GoFundMe page, his vehicle experienced brake failure, leading to the accident, which resulted in his car being totaled. He expressed gratitude for surviving the crash without serious injury to himself or others.
Koroma also noted that the loss of his vehicle has impacted his ability to work, leading to the loss of his job and compounding the financial strain of medical bills. He stated, “Since the accident, I have been facing several challenges at once. Losing my vehicle has left me without reliable transportation, and I have also lost my job.”
As of Tuesday morning, the GoFundMe campaign had raised nearly $14,000. Ndibnu has shared links to the fundraiser on his social media in support of Koroma.
