The New York City home where Donald Trump spent his earliest years has sold for $1.93 million, according to listing agent Joe Zhu of RE/MAX Edge. The sale concludes a process that began when the property went into contract in July.
The Tudor-style house, located at 85-15 Wareham Place in Jamaica Estates, Queens, was purchased by developer Tommy Lin last year for $835,000. Lin subsequently invested more than $500,000 in an eight-month renovation of the roughly 3,100-square-foot residence.
When Lin acquired the property, it had been vacant for years, suffering damage from a burst pipe and mold, and had become inhabited by feral cats. The renovation introduced a chef's kitchen, herringbone floors, and spa-like bathrooms, while preserving the home's original exterior.
The house, built by Donald Trump's father, real estate developer Fred Trump, in 1940, was where the former president lived until approximately age 4 before his family relocated to a different home in Jamaica Estates. The connection to Trump was cited by the listing agent as a significant draw for potential buyers, many of whom expressed interest due to the historical significance of the property.
The home was previously listed for $2.3 million before being taken off the market and relisted. After further price adjustments, it was seeking just under $2 million when it found a buyer this summer. The final sale price was within $70,000 of its most recent asking price of $1.99 million.
The property has a notable real estate history, having sold for $2.14 million in 2017. It was later offered as a tourist rental on Airbnb before falling into disrepair.
