Donald Trump Jr. stated Thursday that unsealed evidence presented during the preliminary hearing for Tyler Robinson, the man accused of murdering Charlie Kirk, has put an end to lingering conspiracy theories surrounding Kirk's death. Trump Jr., a friend of Kirk, attended the hearing in Provo, Utah, this week.
"Based on everything that I saw in that courtroom, it's very clear to me that Tyler Robinson did this," Trump Jr. said during an appearance on "Jesse Watters Primetime." He added that the evidence presented makes the case "more cut and dry" than he had anticipated.
Robinson, 23, is accused of fatally shooting Kirk, 31, at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025. Prosecutors are seeking probable cause to proceed to a trial on charges that could result in the death penalty if Robinson is convicted. Unsealed text messages presented during the hearing allegedly show Robinson admitting to the killing in messages to his roommate, stating he "had enough of his hatred."
"The DNA evidence, the fact that… he turned himself in… to me, it puts so much of this at rest," Trump Jr. remarked, referring to the evidence presented.
Trump Jr., who frequently spoke at Turning Point USA events alongside Kirk, also raised questions about the security measures at the event where Kirk was killed. He noted that typically, such large campus events organized by TPUSA, which can draw thousands of attendees, have a significant law enforcement presence.
"The biggest question in my mind at this point is not whether Tyler Robinson did this, or if it was some people from a foreign land, or another planet — it was, why were there only six police officers active at a major event on a university campus?" he asked. He described the situation as "truly scary" given the usual scale of these events.
Trump Jr. suggested that while questions about Kirk's death might have initially been considered a "50–50" issue, the unsealed evidence has shifted public perception to "90–10," with the majority now believing Robinson is guilty. Prosecutors are expected to continue presenting evidence, and a trial date has not yet been set.
