Donald Trump Jr. stated that the evidence presented during the preliminary hearing for Tyler Robinson, the man accused of killing Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk, was "much more cut and dry" than he had anticipated. Following his attendance at the hearing, Trump Jr. told "America's Newsroom" that newly released surveillance video and witness testimony left him with little doubt regarding the prosecution's case.

"Once this hard evidence was laid out to me in a courtroom before my very eyes, [and] seeing the reaction of the defense, this thing is much more cut and dry than I would have ever even imagined," Trump Jr. said.

He expressed confidence that Robinson will be found guilty upon the conclusion of the legal proceedings, calling the outcome "very clear."

Robinson's preliminary hearing began Monday and is scheduled to continue for the week. Prosecutors are working to establish probable cause, which would advance the case to trial on charges including aggravated murder, a charge that carries the potential for the death penalty.

Kirk, 31, was allegedly fatally shot during a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025. Trump Jr. attended the hearing to show support for Kirk's legacy, as well as for Kirk's widow, Erika, and his parents. He indicated that he wanted to review the evidence firsthand, having previously refrained from commenting on public speculation surrounding the case.

"It was just important to be there. It's a legacy that really needs to be preserved," Trump Jr. stated. "The impact that Charlie had on so many Americans, on so many youth, is, frankly, generational. It could have been so much more, but it was important to be there and to see the actual facts laid out."
