Donald Jr. and Bettina Trump have confirmed that Russian oligarch Umar Kremlev provided financial support for their wedding party in the Bahamas. Bettina Trump addressed the reports on Instagram, posting previously unseen photos and describing Kremlev as "our dear friend Umar" who "very generously hosted two incredible nights of celebrations for us" after their wedding.
She emphasized that the event was a gift from a friend and not tied to any political agenda, stating, "Friendship doesn't require a political motive. Generosity doesn't automatically come with an agenda. And sometimes a wedding gift is simply a wedding gift." The couple also noted that the celebrations were planned well in advance and were separate from their intimate wedding ceremony.
The wedding ceremony itself took place privately in Palm Beach with 18 guests, followed by a reception in the Bahamas attended by 50 people. Donald Trump did not attend the wedding, citing national security duties due to escalating tensions with Iran. The original White House wedding plans were also scaled back due to Middle East instability.

House Oversight Democrats have raised concerns about the payments. Representative James Walkinshaw questioned the potential motives, stating on X, "A Putin-connected Russian oligarch secretly bankrolled Don Jr.'s lavish wedding. Putin's circle doesn't spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on the President's family for nothing. What was he expecting in return? We need answers." Representative Robert Garcia echoed these sentiments, asking, "Why did a Russian oligarch close to Putin fund Trump Jr.'s wedding in the Bahamas? Umar Kremlev spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on the President's son. What did he get in return? We need answers."
These questions come as House Oversight Democrats continue to scrutinize the Trump family's finances. The panel announced a "Trump corruption hearing" to examine accusations that Donald Trump used his office for personal enrichment.

The marriage certificate indicates the couple officially married at Bettina's sister's home in West Palm Beach. The private island venue in the Bahamas, Little Pipe Key, has a history; it once served as a smuggling base for drug lord Pablo Escobar's cartel. Accommodation on the island costs at least $1,400 per person per night and requires access via chartered plane or boat, ensuring discretion.

The couple had initially postponed their wedding plans, concerned that a large celebration during the conflict with Iran could be politically damaging for Donald Jr.'s father. However, with no end to the conflict in sight, they proceeded with a smaller ceremony and a subsequent celebration.
