Former CNN anchor Don Lemon has drawn a parallel between former President Donald Trump's MAGA movement and what he described as the "modern version of the Nazi Party," stating that supporters are motivated by White supremacy and a desire for power rather than economic concerns.

During an interview on the "Can't Be Censored" podcast on July 15, Lemon elaborated on his comparison, noting that the MAGA movement is the closest equivalent to the Nazi Party in the United States, "without the Holocaust and all that stuff." He further characterized Trump's presidency as having "careened into fascism."

The White House responded to Lemon's remarks, with spokesman Davis Ingle calling him a "low ratings loser that no one takes seriously" and suggesting he seek psychiatric help for "Trump Derangement Syndrome."

Lemon also revealed that he is seriously considering a presidential campaign in 2028. He stated that numerous individuals have encouraged him to run, and he has spoken with people experienced in politics. Lemon expressed a preference for a campaign funded by small contributions from citizens, though he acknowledged the potential necessity of accepting larger donations.

"I would like it to be a voter-driven, citizen-driven campaign for as much as it can be," Lemon said. "Maybe at some point I might have to take a donation."

He also revisited his departure from CNN in April 2023, alleging that network leadership wanted to terminate his contract because he is a "gay Black guy." A CNN spokesperson disputed this account, stating that the decision was based on factors unrelated to his identity and expressing gratitude for his contributions.
