WWE star Dominik Mysterio, son of wrestling legend Rey Mysterio, has outlined his ideal, and particularly harsh, conclusion to their ongoing feud. In an interview with OutKick, Dominik stated that for their rivalry to truly end, his father would have to relinquish his iconic mask, acknowledge Dominik as the true inheritor of the Mysterio name, apologize, and retire from wrestling.
"I think, for me, what would really, really do it is he would have to give up his mask," Dominik Mysterio told OutKick. "Claim me as Rey Mysterio, taking on the name, getting on his knees and apologizing and giving me the mask and retiring and leaving. That would be the perfect ending for me."
In the tradition of Lucha Libre, a wrestler unmasking an opponent is considered a profound act of disrespect. Masks are often put on the line to settle intense rivalries. Dominik's desire for his father to surrender his mask and name represents a significant symbolic victory in their storyline.
Mystero's current prominent role in wrestling includes his involvement in AAA's Triplemania 34. He is scheduled to support Omos in a match against Rey Mysterio, and will also compete himself against El Grande Americano for the AAA Mega Championship on the second night of the event. This ongoing familial conflict has been a central theme since Dominik joined the wrestling faction The Judgment Day, leading him to refer to his father as a "deadbeat."
Despite his father's age and current position as AAA general manager, Dominik's vision for ending the feud suggests a desire for a definitive and personally validating conclusion, one that would cement his own legacy at the expense of his father's.
Triplemania 34 Night 1 is set to begin at 10 p.m. ET at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and will be broadcast on YouTube.
