Leeds United forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin provided a moment of lighthearted drama during his team's 4-1 victory over Newcastle on Monday night, reacting with amusement to the news that his second goal of the match had been disallowed.

Calvert-Lewin initially believed he had scored his side's second goal when he directed a header from James Justin's cross into the net. However, replays revealed that the ball had deflected off his teammate Jayden Bogle before crossing the line. Consequently, the goal was officially credited to Bogle.

Sky Sports cameras captured Calvert-Lewin's surprised and disappointed expression at half-time when an official informed him of the decision. "The ref told me at half-time they gave it to Jayden," Calvert-Lewin said after the match. "I didn't even know he was there as I got up early and bang. I'll take the assist."

Bogle himself commented on the situation, stating, "I didn't know anything about it. I said to the ref I didn't fancy telling him at half-time. Even during the game he was still a bit raging. He's happy with the points though."

The striker continued the joke post-match, sharing a photo with Bogle and humorously captioning it, "He's told me that it didn't touch him. How do I appeal this scandalous decision?" He also tagged the Premier League in his social media post.

Calvert-Lewin later scored Leeds' third goal from a pass by Tarik Muharemovic. The scoring had been opened by an own goal from Newcastle's Lewis Miley, followed by Noah Okafor's finish to make it 4-0. Bazoumana Traore scored a late consolation for Newcastle.

This victory propelled Leeds to third place in the Premier League standings, while Newcastle remained in 12th position.
