Dolphins Secure Victory Over Jets in Close Contest
Malik Willis leads Miami's offense, while Garrett Wilson struggles to make an impact for the Jets.
The Miami Dolphins secured a narrow 28-25 victory over the New York Jets on Sunday, a game marked by strong offensive performances from Miami's Malik Willis and a subdued outing from the Jets' Garrett Wilson.
Willis was a key factor in the Dolphins' win, demonstrating command over the offense. He accumulated 208 passing yards and threw two touchdowns, while also contributing 37 rushing yards and a touchdown on the ground. His performance kept the Jets defense largely on its heels throughout the game.
In contrast, Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson was nearly invisible, targeted only three times and finishing the game with two receptions for 26 yards. This performance fell short of expectations set by mid-week discussions about increasing his involvement in the Jets' offensive strategy.
Another standout for the Dolphins was tight end Greg Dulcich, who had a productive first half. Dulcich caught five passes for 86 yards before halftime, contributing significantly as Miami established a 21-7 lead. His 86 receiving yards were close to his career high and his most since 2022.
The Jets faced a significant deficit, particularly in the final two minutes of the first half, trailing by a score of 107-6. This gap ultimately widened by three points by the end of the game, matching the final margin of victory for the Dolphins.
Reflecting on the team's standing, Wilson stated, “I’d like to think we’re heading in the right direction. 2-5, not a good spot, though.” The Jets now hold a 2-5 record.
