Dolphins Running Back De'Von Achane Suffers Potentially Serious Knee Injury
Miami's head coach Jeff Hafley expressed concern about the running back's prognosis after he exited Sunday's game against the Chiefs.
Miami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane sustained a knee injury during the first quarter of Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs, an injury head coach Jeff Hafley described as "not optimistic."
Achane was injured on an 11-yard run and was seen favoring his left leg as he made his way to the sideline. He entered the medical tent and was later ruled out of the game with a knee injury. Achane returned to the sideline after halftime without his helmet and shoulder pads.
The Dolphins lost the game 24-10, dropping their record to 0-3 on the season. Achane finished the game with three carries for 17 rushing yards.
Achane, a 2023 third-round pick, signed a four-year, $64 million contract extension with the Dolphins in the offseason. As a rookie, he missed five games due to a knee injury but had played in all but one game since the start of the 2024 season prior to Sunday's injury.
Through the first two weeks of the current season, Achane was Miami's leading rusher with 110 yards on 31 carries. He also had seven receptions for 49 yards. Last season, Achane rushed for 1,350 yards and eight touchdowns, averaging a league-best 5.7 yards per carry, and added 67 receptions for 488 yards and four touchdowns.
