Dolly Parton's Manager Accuses Nephew of Threats, Intimidation

Dolly Parton's management company, She's Alive, has accused her nephew, Bryan Seaver, of engaging in a campaign of "threats, intimidation, and coercion" in a legal filing seeking a temporary civil restraining order against him. Seaver, who was Parton's head of security and was publicly designated to announce her death, allegedly threatened to ruin her business empire if demands were not met.

In court documents filed in Nashville, She's Alive, managed by Parton's longtime associate Danny Nozell, detailed a series of alleged exchanges with Seaver. The filings claim Seaver threatened to become "the hand of retribution for my entire family" and to "set up a podcast dedicated to ruining Dolly's brand partnerships." He is also accused of leveraging his background as a military contractor to intimidate employees, allegedly describing himself as a "killer" and boasting about arms deals.

Seaver, the son of Parton's sister Cassie, has denied the accusations, stating that text messages and emails quoted in the lawsuit were taken out of context. He claims these communications were "two guys having rage talk and crying on the phone together while we were grieving." Seaver, who provided security for Parton for the last 20 years of her life, was recently fired by She's Alive as head of security for her properties. His company called the dismissal "unexpected" and "unexplained," stating they "refuse to be intimidated by those whose actions we believe are being taken in bad faith and with the intent to profit from the life of someone who willingly gave so much."

The dispute has reportedly led to resignations among some employees and lawyers for Parton's trusts and estates, and She's Alive has hired private security for its staff. Seaver was publicly recognized for announcing Parton's death in August via a video posted to her Instagram account, where he explained it was a task Parton had requested he perform years prior.

Nozell, who began working with Parton in 2004, has been instrumental in managing her career and posthumous legacy. He stated last month that Parton had been actively working on numerous projects before her death, with a plan to ensure her work would continue to bring joy for decades to come. The current legal battle signals a public conflict over the management and direction of that intended legacy.
