Coy 'Denver' Parton, an older brother of country music superstar Dolly Parton, died on July 23 at the age of 82. His death marks another loss for the Parton family, coming a little more than a year after the passing of Dolly Parton's husband, Carl Dean, in March 2025.

A native of Sevierville, Tennessee, Coy Parton worked as a crane operator in bridge construction, as a farmer, and was an avid hunter, according to an online obituary. He was described in a 2025 Taste of Country article as the most private of the Parton siblings, deliberately staying out of the public eye.

Coy Parton was one of 12 children born to Robert Lee Parton and Avie Lee Owens Parton. He is survived by two daughters, Chris and Jennifer Parton, a grandson, Ian Parton, a brother, Bobby Parton, and seven sisters, including Dolly, Stella, and Freida Parton.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Parton, his parents, and several siblings, including infant brother Larry, David Parton, Randy Parton, and Floyd Parton. His brothers-in-law, Carl Dean and Ray Buzzeo, also predeceased him.

Coy Parton's death occurred approximately 16 months after Carl Dean, Dolly Parton's husband of nearly 60 years, died at age 82. Dean, who was rarely seen in public and avoided the spotlight, passed away in Nashville. Dolly Parton shared news of his death on social media, reflecting on their "many wonderful years together."

Coy Parton's passing adds to a series of family losses for the renowned singer. His older brother, David Parton, also died at the age of 82 in November 2024. Services for Coy Parton will be private.
