DOJ Investigating Trump Ally Corey Lewandowski
The Justice Department has opened an investigation into longtime Trump adviser Corey Lewandowski following a criminal referral from the Department of Homeland Security's inspector general.
The Justice Department has launched an investigation into Corey Lewandowski, a prominent political adviser to former President Donald Trump, according to a source familiar with the matter. The probe was initiated after a criminal referral from the Department of Homeland Security's Office of the Inspector General.
When questioned by reporters, Trump stated that he wants his staff to be held accountable and expressed that he had "heard something about it." He added, "All I know is I want my people to be honest. If they're not going to be honest, they have to be prosecuted." Trump characterized dishonesty from his staff as "stealing from me as president."
Lewandowski, a political ally of Trump, previously served as an adviser to former Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem. A representative for Lewandowski told The Wall Street Journal that he has not been contacted by the Justice Department and denied any wrongdoing.
