Dog Missing for Over Four Years Reunited With Arizona Family
A Yorkie mix named Owl, who disappeared from a groomer in 2021, was found wandering three hours away from his home.
An Arizona family has been reunited with their beloved dog, Owl, a Yorkie mix who vanished from a groomer over four years ago. Owl disappeared from the groomer's in Sedona just before Christmas in 2021.
Linsey Frawley, Owl's owner, recalled the moment she received a call informing her the dog was missing. "I said, 'What are you talking about? Where is our dog?' and she said, 'he ran away,'" Frawley told AZ Family. In the ensuing years, the family created thousands of missing posters and eventually began to lose hope.
This past weekend, the family received the unexpected news that Owl had been found near Camp Verde, approximately three hours from his Sedona home. Pinetop Police were able to identify Owl through his microchip, facilitating the reunion.
The reunion was bittersweet, as Owl was found in a significantly neglected state. His owner noted that he had trouble hearing, his eyes and mouth were fused shut, and his fur was severely matted. "No animal should have to go through that," Frawley stated.
The family suspects Owl may have been taken from the groomer and lived with someone else during his absence. They are considering filing a report with the police if this is confirmed. However, their immediate priority is Owl's recovery, which is reportedly progressing well.
For Frawley's son, Mason Goodson, who was five years old when Owl first joined the family, the dog's return is profoundly emotional. He described the feeling as akin to a deceased relative returning home.
