Dog Dumped by Cadillac Driver in Washington Park Rescued
Spokane County Animal Protection Services is seeking information after an elderly dog was found abandoned at Valley Mission Park.
An elderly dog, now named Grayson, was found wandering alone in Valley Mission Park in Spokane, Washington, after being abandoned by its owner on August 29. Spokane County Animal Protection Services (SCRAPS) has released surveillance footage of a light-colored SUV, possibly a Cadillac, at the scene and is appealing to the public for information about the owner.
According to officials, the individual drove to the park, removed the dog from the vehicle, and then fled the area. A witness, Jacob Garrett, who was cleaning the park at the time, reported seeing a man in a white Cadillac SRX, believed to be from model years 2005 to 2009, drop the dog and drive away. Garrett stated the dog appeared malnourished and had a tumor. He found Grayson drinking water from a toilet bowl.
Garrett contacted SCRAPS, and responders arrived to care for the dog. He named the dog Grayson due to its graying fur and whiskers. The dog has since been placed in a foster home where it is recovering.
SCRAPS is urging anyone who was in the Valley Mission Park area on August 29 and might have seen something relevant to contact them. They are also encouraging the owner to come forward to discuss the circumstances that led to the dog being left behind. The Spokane Valley Police Department is involved in the investigation.
Grayson is reportedly gaining weight, growing stronger, and showing more of his personality in foster care. Garrett has expressed interest in providing Grayson with a permanent home once the dog has fully recovered.
