The Los Angeles Dodgers visited the White House on Thursday to celebrate their 2025 World Series championship, presenting President Donald Trump with a custom jersey and a championship ring. The ceremony took place in the Rose Garden, where Dodgers owner Mark Walter gifted Trump a jersey bearing the number 47, signifying his status as the 47th President of the United States.
This marked the second consecutive year Trump welcomed the Dodgers to the White House, following their 2024 World Series victory. During the event, Trump spoke for approximately 20 minutes, praising the Dodgers' 2025 triumph over the Toronto Blue Jays as "among the most thrilling championships in the history of the sport."
The team's visit on Thursday was their third to the White House in the 2020s. They were previously welcomed by then-President Joe Biden in 2021 after their 2020 championship. The Dodgers' attendance at the recent ceremony followed some scheduling complexities, with their initial road trip to Washington D.C. during the season featuring only afternoon games.
Despite potential controversies surrounding White House visits by professional sports teams during the Trump administration, most of the Dodgers roster attended the event. Mookie Betts, Edgardo Henriquez, and Kike Hernandez were absent due to logistical reasons.
