Nine months after their Game 7 triumph, the Los Angeles Dodgers were recognized on Thursday for their 2025 World Series championship during a visit to the White House. President Trump welcomed the team, which has now won two consecutive titles, to the nation's capital for a ceremony held in the Rose Garden. "I’m thrilled to say welcome back to the White House," Trump said. "And maybe we’ll see you again next year, I hope."
This marks the second consecutive year the Dodgers have been honored at the White House by Trump. Last year's ceremony was also held in the Rose Garden following their 2024 championship. Previous visits under President Biden in 2021 and for their 2020 World Series win were held in the East Room.
The trip to Washington occurred during an off-day on the Dodgers' current East Coast road trip. Scheduling conflicts had previously delayed the visit, preventing the team from attending during their series against the Nationals in April.
Most of the players from the 2025 championship roster were in attendance, with notable exceptions including Mookie Betts, who chose to spend time with his family, and players on the injured list. Retired pitcher Clayton Kershaw also attended to rejoin his former teammates. Team ownership and front office representatives, including owner Mark Walter, team president Stan Kasten, and executive vice president Lon Rosen, were present. However, president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman and general manager Brandon Gomes remained with the team this week ahead of MLB's trade deadline.
Earlier on Thursday, manager Dave Roberts, infielder Miguel Rojas, and pitcher Will Klein visited Capitol Hill.
The team arrived in Washington on Wednesday night after concluding a series in Philadelphia. Following the White House ceremony, they were scheduled to travel to New York for their final series of the season against the Mets.
