The Los Angeles Dodgers are scheduled to visit the White House on July 23 to celebrate their second consecutive World Series championship, an official confirmed to Fox News Digital. The visit comes as the Dodgers became the first team since the New York Yankees (1998-2000) to win back-to-back Fall Classics.
The team will be in the Washington, D.C. area for an off day between series against the Philadelphia Phillies and the New York Mets. White House spokeswoman Taylor Rogers stated that President Trump is "excited to welcome the Los Angeles Dodgers BACK to the White House to celebrate their World Series championship!"
This upcoming visit follows a trend of champions being invited to the White House during Trump's second term. Since January 2025, the Dodgers, Philadelphia Eagles, Florida Panthers, Ohio State football team, Indiana football team, LSU baseball team, and Inter Miami have all visited to commemorate their titles. Last year, the Florida Gators were the first college basketball team to visit Trump since the Baylor women's team in 2019.
The Dodgers' celebration of their 2024 title in 2025 saw several players attend, including injured players like Clayton Kershaw, Gavin Stone, Michael Kopech, and Michael Grove. Outfielder Mookie Betts attended the ceremony after skipping a previous White House visit with the Boston Red Sox in 2019, stating he regretted not attending that trip. Betts emphasized that the 2025 visit was about the team, not him.
In contrast, some players have opted out of White House visits in the past. Brusdar Graterol, a reliever, stayed home during the 2025 celebration, and Freddie Freeman was absent due to being on the injured list. Manager Alex Cora of the Boston Red Sox had previously cited his desire to prioritize Puerto Rico's recovery after Hurricane Maria as a reason for skipping the 2019 visit.
Ahead of the 2025 visit, an immigration rights group, the National Day Laborer Organizing Network (NDLON), issued a plea for the Dodgers to reconsider attending. The group argued that visiting a president who has taken actions perceived as harmful to vulnerable populations would mean the team is "turning its back on the very people who fill the stadiums." NDLON urged the team to "honor the unity, integrity and diversity they themselves represent" and to stand in solidarity with immigrant neighbors.
The Dodgers previously visited former President Joe Biden in July 2021 to celebrate their 2020 World Series victory. The team defeated the Toronto Blue Jays in 11 innings in Game 7 of the 2025 World Series to secure their championship.
