Dodgers Reliever Will Klein Undergoes Successful Surgery, Eyes Spring Training Return
The World Series hero's procedure follows a season-ending injury, with the team anticipating his readiness for the next season.
Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Will Klein has undergone successful offseason elbow surgery and is expected to be ready for spring training, according to reports. The reliever, who was a key contributor in the Dodgers' 2025 World Series victory, missed the latter half of the 2026 season due to elbow discomfort.
Klein landed on the injured list in August with right elbow issues, which ultimately ended his season. In 2026, he posted a 3.67 ERA with 49 strikeouts over 41.2 innings pitched. The Dodgers acquired Klein in a minor league trade with the Mariners in June of the previous year.
Klein emerged as an unlikely hero during Game 3 of the 2025 World Series, an 18-inning marathon against the Blue Jays. He pitched four scoreless innings, entering the game in the 15th inning and closing out the contest for the Dodgers. His performance was crucial in the team's 6-5 victory in that game.
The Dodgers faced bullpen challenges throughout their 2026 postseason run, having been swept in the National League Championship Series. Key relievers such as Blake Treinen, Brusdar Graterol, Ben Casparius, and Jack Dreyer were unavailable, contributing to the team's early exit. Klein's injury further depleted the bullpen's options.
With Klein expected to be ready for the 2027 season, the Dodgers aim to rebound from their disappointing postseason performance. Klein shared an update on his recovery via Instagram Stories, stating "All fixed up."
