Dodgers Player Alex Call Criticizes Risqué Ads During MLB Playoffs

Los Angeles Dodgers reserve outfielder Alex Call has publicly criticized Major League Baseball and its television partners for airing advertisements deemed inappropriate for family audiences during playoff games. Call voiced his concerns on X, formerly Twitter, on Thursday.

His comments followed a post by Taylor Murphy, a Utah-based security company owner, who on Monday night expressed dismay over the ads broadcast during games. Murphy specifically cited a commercial featuring Megan Fox promoting erectile dysfunction medication and another sports betting advertisement with Sydney Sweeney.

Murphy's post garnered mixed reactions, but Call shared it, adding his own statement.

"Can we please get the soft porn ads off playoff broadcasts, TBS, Fox, NBC, @MLB?" Call wrote. "My son wants to watch baseball with Dada, but how do I justify that when a half-naked women could come on screen anytime?? This is America’s Pastime. Parents shouldn’t have to worry about this."

HuffPost reported that MLB headquarters did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Call is not the only individual who has spoken out against Sweeney's commercial. Following its release last month, female athletes criticized the ad for the sports prediction market app Novig, deeming it sexist and objectifying. The Female Athlete Project, an online platform for female athletes, characterized the ad as containing "so much misogyny in 40 seconds."
