Dodgers Outfielder Criticizes MLB for 'Soft Porn' Playoff Ads
Alex Call argues that suggestive commercials featuring Sydney Sweeney are inappropriate for family viewing during baseball's postseason.
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Alex Call has publicly criticized Major League Baseball and its broadcast partners for airing suggestive advertisements during playoff games. Call specifically targeted risqué commercials featuring actress Sydney Sweeney for the prediction market Novig, which have been shown during MLB postseason broadcasts.
In a social media post on X, Call expressed his frustration, stating, "Can we please get the soft porn ads off playoff broadcasts, TBS, Fox, NBC, @MLB? My son wants to watch baseball with Dada, but how do I justify that when a half-naked women [sic] could come on screen anytime?? This is America’s Pastime. Parents shouldn’t have to worry about this."
The commercials featuring Sweeney have been a polarizing topic, sparking debate about their suitability for a broad audience during a family-friendly event like the MLB playoffs. Call's statement emphasizes concerns that such content is inappropriate for children watching the games with their parents.
Call, who has not yet appeared in a postseason game for the Dodgers this year, made his comments early Wednesday morning. The publication noted that while Call raises a valid point about maintaining a wholesome viewing experience, Dodgers fans might prefer he was focused on his team's performance in their must-win NLCS Game 3 against the Brewers.
