Dodgers Executive Rocco Baldelli Eyed for Mariners Manager Job

Rocco Baldelli, a special assistant to Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman, is being considered for the managerial role with the Seattle Mariners, according to reports. Baldelli joined the Dodgers front office last December after his tenure as manager of the Minnesota Twins concluded.

Baldelli reunited with Friedman, with whom he previously worked in the Tampa Bay Rays' front office when Baldelli's playing career was cut short. He had not managed since being fired by the Twins during the 2025 season, with a year remaining on his contract.

The Mariners currently have a managerial vacancy following the departure of former skipper Dan Wilson. Jon Heyman of the New York Post reported that Baldelli is one of several candidates being evaluated by Seattle. Other potential options for the Mariners include Joe Espada, Brandon Hyde, and former Dodgers catcher David Ross.

During his first season as manager for the Twins in 2019, Baldelli led the team to 101 wins. He also guided the franchise to its first postseason series victory in 19 years in the 2023 campaign. Baldelli's overall record with the Twins was 527-505, including three American League Central titles, and he was named AL Manager of the Year in 2019.

If hired by the Mariners, Baldelli's single season in the Dodgers' front office could be his only stint with the Los Angeles team.
