The Los Angeles Dodgers have clinched their 13th National League West division title in the last 14 years, securing the playoff berth with an 8-2 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Thursday. This marks another milestone in their consistent dominance, yet manager Dave Roberts expressed that the team's best performance is still ahead.

"Baseball is hard," Roberts stated, reflecting on the team's achievement. "Nothing is guaranteed." He added that for the 2026 season, "we’re not even close to playing the baseball that we’re gonna play." Despite facing challenges throughout the season, Roberts finds encouragement in the team's current standing, suggesting it "says a lot about us."

Following Monday night's more subdued playoff-clinching moment, the Dodgers embraced Thursday's victory with a more spirited celebration in their clubhouse. Amidst the popping of champagne and beer showers, players donned division-title hats and T-shirts.

"It’s a big deal. It’s not easy," Roberts said of winning the division. "I think a lot of people think it’s easy, it’s a rite of passage. But it’s not easy to win a division when everyone is gunning for you, to keep everyone motivated to play over the course of 162. It’s something we’re all really proud of. But that’s not the end goal."

The team's ultimate objective remains a World Series three-peat, a goal that has driven them since the start of spring training. This ambition follows their recent back-to-back championships and aims to make them the first NL team since the late 1990s Yankees to achieve three consecutive titles.

However, the path to this goal has been fraught with adversity. Offseason acquisitions Kyle Tucker and Edwin Díaz have not performed to expectations, with Tucker experiencing a career-worst season despite a recent uptick in performance, and Díaz facing uncertainty regarding his inclusion on the postseason roster due to injuries.
