The Los Angeles Dodgers have acquired right-handed reliever Seth Halvorsen from the Colorado Rockies, marking their first trade of the deadline season. The deal bolsters the Dodgers' bullpen depth by sending two minor league prospects, Nick Frasso and Landyn Vidourek, to Colorado.
Halvorsen, 26, is expected to report to Triple-A. He has been on a rehabilitation assignment for shoulder inflammation. In 75 Major League appearances over three seasons, Halvorsen has recorded 13 saves with a 4.31 earned run average. His ERA+ of 114 indicates he has performed 14% above the league average when accounting for ballpark factors, a notable mark considering he pitches at Coors Field. However, he has struggled with command, issuing 15 walks in 19 innings pitched this season.
In exchange for Halvorsen, the Dodgers sent Nick Frasso and Landyn Vidourek to the Rockies. Frasso, a former top-ranked pitching prospect, has been hampered by injuries throughout his career. The Dodgers acquired him in 2022 and he had previously been ranked among the top 100 prospects in baseball. After missing the entire 2024 season due to shoulder surgery, Frasso posted a 5.49 ERA with Triple-A Oklahoma City in 2025 and was released this offseason before re-signing with the Dodgers on a minor league deal. He had a 4.74 ERA in 21 appearances with Oklahoma City this year and was added to the 40-man roster last month, though he was not close to an MLB debut. Frasso, a native of Torrance, California, will look for a fresh start with the Rockies, whose new general manager is former Dodgers executive Josh Byrnes.
Vidourek, 22, was drafted out of the University of Cincinnati and has struggled in his first full professional season with single-A Ontario, batting just .170 in 59 games. He remains a top-30 prospect in the Dodgers' farm system, according to MLB Pipeline, but faces a deep outfield position within the organization.
This transaction represents a typical lower-profile, depth-building move for the Dodgers, a strategy they have employed repeatedly in recent years.
