Doctor Stabbed to Death in Bed Called Out Attacker by Name, Court Documents Reveal
Idris Evans, a pediatric critical care physician, was fatally attacked in his home by a man who allegedly broke in.
A Pittsburgh doctor fatally stabbed in his bed called out his attacker by name during the assault, according to court documents.
Idris Evans, a pediatric critical care physician, was attacked in his home by suspect Elijah Hemingway, 32. Evans' wife, who witnessed the incident, stated that her husband called out "Elijah" as if he knew the intruder.
Hemingway allegedly broke into the family's home and entered their third-floor bedroom. He reportedly claimed to have been invited to the residence, but authorities found no evidence to support this assertion, according to WPXI.
Authorities are working to determine if Evans and Hemingway knew each other. The female victim stated she did not know Hemingway. "We do not know if there was any preexisting relationship, though the female victim did not know this male, we are trying to determine if the two males knew each other, if at all," said Assistant Superintendent of the Allegheny County Police Department Vic Joseph.
