Doctor Accused of Inflammatory Social Media Posts Faces Medical Tribunal

A Jewish doctor, Dr. Parmis Lamei Javan, is facing a medical tribunal for allegedly making inflammatory social media posts claiming her National Health Service hospital was going to be "targeted and looted" by "Islamists." The tribunal heard these allegations in Manchester.

Dr. Lamei Javan reportedly made the posts on her X account while working at Northwick Park Hospital in Harrow, north London. The alleged posts, made in August 2024 following riots across England after a fatal stabbing incident, stated, "Tonight the hospital I am working at will be targeted and looted by the riots in the UK. I hope the staff and patients are kept safe."

She is further accused of claiming that "even the local Labour Party" had issued a statement about the hospital receiving threats and that security staff had been warned by "organised rioters." According to the allegations, she said the first area rioters would target was the maternity ward.

The charges brought by the General Medical Council state that her comments were both "seriously offensive" and motivated by racial or religious hostility, potentially causing alarm to patients and the public.

Following an investigation by London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust, Dr. Lamei Javan allegedly refused to cooperate and made further "dishonest" online posts. These included claims that she had been permanently excluded from work for "simply condemning Hamas on Twitter" and that an HR staff member had used "antisemitic tropes."

Mark Monaghan, representing the GMC, described these claims as a "fabrication" and a "deliberate lie." He stated that Dr. Lamei Javan had not been excluded but placed on restricted practice, eventually resigning in December 2024. The investigation, he clarified, was for her posts alleging the hospital was under threat, not for condemning Hamas.

Further allegations involve Dr. Lamei Javan's appearance on the YouTube channel "Golda's Girls" in March 2025. She is accused of repeating claims that she was punished for calling Hamas an "Islamist Death Cult." In the same interview, she allegedly made "untrue" statements that she had been accused of having a "mental illness" and that the trust's HR department behaved "like Nazis." She also claimed HR staff were "true Hamas supporters" potentially hired by Qatar, which had a "stake" in the Trust.

During the tribunal, it was revealed that Dr. Lamei Javan was born Muslim in Iran but moved to Australia as a baby. She reportedly converted to Judaism, influenced by her father who had hidden his Jewish identity due to the treatment of non-Muslims in the Middle East. She completed her medical qualifications in the UK.

The tribunal is also considering other allegations, including Dr. Lamei Javan's failure to follow the trust's policy regarding absences from work, dishonesty about an absence, and a failure to cooperate with the trust's investigation. The hearing is ongoing.
