DNC Vice Chair Calls on Sen. Fetterman to Resign

Democratic National Committee Vice Chair Malcolm Kenyatta has called on Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) to resign if he is unable to adequately perform his senatorial duties. Kenyatta stated on "The Dean Obeidallah Show" on Saturday that if Fetterman "cannot do that job or he doesn’t want to do the job, then do the decent thing and quit." He added that Fetterman could then "spend all day on Fox News."

Kenyatta, who previously ran against Fetterman in the 2022 Pennsylvania Democratic Senate primary, accused the senator of lacking interest in his role. He cited Fetterman's tenure as lieutenant governor, during which Kenyatta claimed Fetterman had "the single worst attendance record of any lieutenant governor in the history of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania." Kenyatta further asserted that Fetterman has "always been self-absorbed and focused only on himself."

Recent reporting has also raised questions about Fetterman's engagement with his senatorial responsibilities. A Wall Street Journal report highlighted instances where Fetterman allegedly prioritized media appearances, including an interview with Fox News, over constituent duties, such as meeting with paralyzed veterans. The report indicated a seeming disinterest in the job and a failure to meet ongoing responsibilities.

Despite facing criticism for his public commentary on fellow Democrats and his appearances on conservative media, Fetterman has stated he will not switch to the Republican party unless the Democratic party becomes "overtly anti-Israel."

Kenyatta characterized Fetterman as a "political tourist to the needs of working people and working families."
