DNA Evidence Reportedly Links Ilhan Omar to Immigration Fraud Allegations

Federal authorities have reportedly obtained DNA evidence as part of an immigration fraud investigation into U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar, according to reports.

The investigation, which led to a search of Omar's Washington D.C. home and the seizure of her personal passport and phone, is reportedly focused on allegations that the congresswoman married her brother to facilitate his immigration to the United States. Federal agents have issued more than a dozen grand jury subpoenas, including to some of Omar's relatives.

While agents have denied reports of 'dumpster diving' as part of the probe, it remains unclear how Omar's DNA was obtained. However, sources suggest the DNA evidence could be crucial in proving the allegations. Multiple sources have indicated that this evidence gives prosecutors a basis for federal charges against Omar for immigration fraud.

Omar, 44, has not been charged with any crime and has vehemently denied any wrongdoing, characterizing the investigation as a politically motivated "witch hunt." Her attorneys have demanded the return of property seized during the search, accusing the Justice Department of conducting an unlawful and politically motivated investigation that violates her constitutional rights and threatens the separation of powers. A Justice Department spokesperson rejected these accusations, stating that attorneys and law enforcement complied with all legal obligations.

Former White House border czar Tom Homan warned that Omar could face denaturalization and deportation if investigators uncover evidence of immigration fraud. He told Fox News that investigators have assembled a "strong case" and that if Omar is found to have violated immigration law, she would be held accountable, just like any other citizen.

The investigation has drawn criticism from some Democrats, including former President Barack Obama, who accused the Trump administration of weaponizing federal agencies against political opponents. Obama argued that the investigation appeared to hinge on a disputed question about Omar's age at the time her father became a naturalized U.S. citizen, suggesting the pursuit of such a theory was an attempt to intimidate an elected official.

Omar's legal team has asserted that there is "no legitimate basis for any suggestion that she has violated any law concerning her citizenship status."
