The alligator that fatally attacked and killed Brittany Clark in Florida has been identified through DNA testing, according to a report. Clark, 31, died after sustaining severe injuries to her arms on June 28 while visiting Little Big Econ State Forest in Central Florida with her boyfriend and roommate.
Following the attack, trappers captured and killed two large alligators in the Econlockhatchee River; one measured approximately 12 feet long, and the other was about 13 feet.
Officials from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) stated that DNA samples collected from the larger, 13-foot alligator were tested at a lab in Gainesville and confirmed it was responsible for the deadly mauling. The medical examiner also reportedly confirmed that bite marks found on Clark's body matched the alligator.
The FWC has indicated that the investigation into the incident remains active and further information will be released upon its conclusion.
