DJ Tim Westwood Faces 17 Sex Assault Charges After New Accusations
The former BBC Radio 1 DJ has been charged with two additional offenses, bringing the total to 17 charges involving nine women.
DJ Tim Westwood, 68, has been charged with two more sexual offenses, according to the Metropolitan Police. These new charges include an alleged indecent assault of a teenage girl in 1991 and a sexual assault of a teenage woman in 2004, both reportedly occurring in London.
These additional charges bring Westwood's total to 17, encompassing four counts of rape, nine counts of indecent assault, and two counts of sexual assault, involving nine separate women. Westwood is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court regarding the two new charges.
A trial for the original 15 charges is already slated to commence at Southwark Crown Court in January.
Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy stated, "The women who have made reports have placed their trust in us, and we remain committed to providing them with all available support." He added that independent support is accessible through Rape Crisis via its 24/7 Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Line.
