A 21-year-old DJ has publicly shared an alleged voice note from a fellow DJ after she rejected his advances, calling the message "disgusting and degrading." The incident occurred after the young DJ, who brands herself as 'your favourite Barbie DJ,' reached out to Melbourne-based DJ Ryan Mattiazzo, also known as ‘Mattix,’ for career advice.
According to reports, Ms. Hanson had initially contacted Mr. Mattiazzo after he had expressed interest in booking her for gigs. She was seeking professional guidance and hoping to advance her career in the music industry. Ms. Hanson reportedly attempted to keep the conversation focused on business matters.
However, the dynamic reportedly shifted when Mr. Mattiazzo made it clear he expected something in return for his professional assistance. The alleged voice note, shared by Ms. Hanson, appears to be a response to her rejection of his advances. In the recording, Mr. Mattiazzo is quoted as saying, "Not my type…. God, I could help you with so many gigs right now and then you go and say s**t like that."
Mr. Mattiazzo has since apologized for his behavior. The public sharing of the alleged voice note has sparked conversation about professional conduct and the challenges faced by women in the entertainment industry. Ms. Hanson began her DJ career as a teenager after developing a passion for the music scene at a festival.
