Disneyland Guests Express Frustration Over Disruptive Hecklers and Solicitors
Visitors to the Anaheim theme park report being accosted by religious preachers and aggressive vendors outside the entrance.
Disneyland tourists are voicing their frustration over what they describe as an increasingly disruptive presence of religious hecklers and aggressive solicitors outside the park's entrance gates. Visitors report having to navigate through a gauntlet of amplified religious sermons, political merchandise sales, and persistent vendors before even entering the theme park.
These incidents, occurring on public sidewalks outside the Disneyland entrance in Anaheim, California, have led to growing agitation among guests who feel the behavior "ruins the mood" of their visit. Since the property outside the gates is not owned by Disney, individuals are permitted to distribute materials, offer paid photo opportunities, and sell items.
Complaints shared by park guests detail encounters with various groups, including those selling toys and bottled water, as well as aggressive religious organizations. One guest recounted seeing a paid photo opportunity featuring tropical birds, expressing concern about the animals' welfare and the proximity of such displays to families.
Discussions on platforms like Reddit highlight the annoyance caused by what some users call "obnoxious religious people." One Reddit user described having to cover their ears due to a street preacher using a megaphone at an excessively loud volume, stating they were "harassed" and told they needed to "find Jesus."
Evangelist content creator Jonathan Perde was noted for his public preaching, where he contrasted the theme park's "temporary magic kingdom" with an eternal kingdom. A TikTok video of Perde preaching near the Disney Partners statue garnered significant attention, showing families observing the scene.
Mickey Visit, an independent Disney media outlet that reported on these growing guest complaints, did not report a solution-based response from Disneyland representatives regarding the issue. The Daily Mail has reached out to Jonathan Perde and Disneyland for comment.
