A Disneyland employee entered the Rivers of America shirtless on Thursday, an incident that was captured on video and is currently under investigation by park officials. The cast member, wearing long white pants, was seen swimming briefly in the attraction's water before pulling himself ashore and scaling a fence to rejoin park guests.
The video, posted to TikTok by user @pixiedustarchive, shows onlookers reacting with surprise to the employee's actions. A caption accompanying the video suggested the employee discarded his keys and walkie-talkie before entering the water. Disneyland stated that the cast member quickly exited the water and made his way off-stage. No injuries were reported in connection with the incident.
This event marks another unusual occurrence at the Anaheim theme park. Last month, a 13-year-old visitor fell into a ride's water track at Tiana's Bayou Adventure after climbing out of a ride vehicle. The teenager survived the fall but required hospitalization.
Meanwhile, Disney is continuing with workforce reductions. The company announced hundreds of layoffs this week, the third round of cuts this year, impacting various divisions including Disney Entertainment Television, ESPN, corporate departments, and Disney Studios. A Disney spokesperson cited a continuous evaluation of resource management and reinvestment across the company as the industry evolves. These layoffs come despite the recent box office success of "Toy Story 5."
