Disneyland Demolishes Historic Ticket Booths Amid Major Expansion

Disneyland has demolished the final two historic ticket booths on the eastern side of its main entrance in Anaheim, California. These structures, dating back 71 years, were removed as part of the theme park's ongoing expansion project, known as DisneylandForward. Aerial images captured the demolition, showing the once-familiar booths reduced to rubble behind construction walls in the Esplanade area.

This demolition follows the earlier removal of four other ticket booths located between Disneyland and Disney California Adventure Park earlier this year. Two remaining ticket booths on the western side of the Esplanade are still in place for guests who prefer to purchase tickets in person.

The removal of the historic booths is part of a broader initiative to transform the resort's arrival experience. DisneylandForward, announced in 2024, includes plans for a new pedestrian bridge over Harbor Boulevard leading to a revamped esplanade. The project also proposes a new parking structure and transportation hub designed to improve traffic flow and guest access.

Beyond the entrance, Disneyland's expansion plans encompass new attractions and themed areas. Future developments are expected to include an expansion of Avengers Campus with new attractions slated for 2028, as well as new experiences based on the films "Coco" and "Avatar."

In addition to the park infrastructure upgrades, the Downtown Disney District is also undergoing changes. The beloved Porto's Bakery, a popular Los Angeles-based chain founded by Cuban immigrants, is set to open a new location in the district. An artist's rendering of the new Porto's location depicts a multi-level design with outdoor seating.
