Disney Ticket Prices Increase, Sparking Visitor Outrage

Disney has increased ticket prices for its theme parks in Florida and California, leading to backlash from visitors. The price hikes affect various ticket types, including those for peak holiday dates and annual passes.

At Disney World in Florida, the starting price for a one-day, one-park admission to Animal Kingdom remains $119. However, prices for peak dates have seen increases. A one-day ticket to Magic Kingdom for Christmas Day or New Year's Eve, which cost $209 this year, will rise to $229 in 2027.

Disney World also implemented increases on its top-tier annual passes. The Pixie Dust Pass, an entry-level option for Florida residents, saw a $10 increase. The Pirate Pass, also for Florida residents, increased by $40. The Sorcerer Pass, available to Florida residents and Disney Vacation Club members, rose by $40, while the Incredi-Pass, open to all guests, increased by $120.

Disneyland in California also saw adjustments. While starting prices, top-end prices, and Magic Key annual pass prices remained unchanged, middle-tier pricing increased by up to 4 percent. Park hopper tickets were also affected, with increases of $5 to $10 depending on the date.

These price adjustments have generated significant negative reactions on social media platforms. Visitors expressed concerns that the rising costs are making Disney parks unaffordable for middle and lower-income families, suggesting that the parks are becoming exclusive to affluent individuals. Comments on Reddit highlighted feelings of disappointment and the inability to justify the escalating prices.

This latest round of price increases follows a similar move by Disney World in September, which raised the cost of some of its hotel stays for 2027. A comparison of hotel rates for March 2027 versus March 2026 showed significant jumps. For instance, a standard room at Disney's Pop Century Resort will cost $325 per night on weeknights and $388 on weekends in mid-March 2027, up from $281 and $341 respectively in 2026. Prices at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort are set to rise from $341 per night on weeknights in March 2026 to $416 in March 2027, with weekend rates increasing from $378 to $500. Rooms at Disney's BoardWalk Villas are also projected to increase, from $918 to $1,033 per night for weeknights and from $1,001 to $1,118 for weekends in mid-March 2027.
