Disney is implementing a round of layoffs that will eliminate up to 200 positions within its Experiences division, the segment responsible for the company's theme parks, resorts, and cruise lines. The majority of these job reductions are reportedly occurring at the Imagineering campus in Glendale.
These cuts stem from a periodic review of the company's investments, strategic priorities, and the timelines for various projects. Employees affected by the layoffs were expected to be notified by the end of Wednesday. The reductions are confined to the Experiences division and do not extend across the entire Disney corporation.
The news comes as Disney's major theme park attractions continue to draw large numbers of visitors. In 2025, Disneyland Park in Anaheim saw an attendance of 17.4 million guests, a slight increase of 0.4%, making it the second most visited theme park globally. Its neighbor, Disney California Adventure, also experienced a 0.4% rise, attracting 10.1 million visitors.
Nationally, Florida's Magic Kingdom maintained its position as the world's most popular theme park, with 17.8 million guests in 2025, though this represented a marginal decrease of 0.2% in attendance. These attendance figures are closely watched by analysts as the Experiences division is a significant contributor to Disney's overall financial performance.
Despite strong attendance at its flagship parks, Disney is undertaking a review of its investment allocation and project management strategies. Specific projects impacted by this review or the detailed reasons for individual layoffs have not been disclosed.
