Disney Parks' Unusual Rules Could Lead to Ejection

Visitors to Disney theme parks may find themselves ejected for violating a variety of lesser-known rules that extend beyond standard etiquette. These regulations cover attire, behavior, and items brought into the parks, impacting guests of all ages.

Costume and Attire Regulations

Guests over certain ages are prohibited from wearing costumes. At Disneyland Resort in California and Walt Disney World in Florida, this ban applies to individuals aged 14 and older. Disneyland Paris extends this age limit to 12. The park also reserves the right to refuse entry to anyone wearing a costume, makeup, or tattoo deemed inappropriate or likely to offend children and families.

Selfie sticks, hand-held extension poles for cameras, and banners are also banned from all theme parks. For safety and operational reasons, running is prohibited except in designated areas.

Prohibited Items and Activities

Wrapped gifts that cannot be easily inspected by security are reportedly not permitted. While not explicitly stated as a ban on all gifts, guests have reported needing to unwrap presents at security checkpoints. Items like folding chairs are also disallowed in theme parks and the Downtown Disney District.

Specific Park and Event Rules

Disney's Animal Kingdom theme park is a balloon-free zone to protect the animals. Guests can leave balloons at a "Balloon Daycare" service. This policy also applies to water parks, ESPN Wide World of Sports, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Rules also govern proposals within the parks. While images of proposals are common, characters are reportedly not permitted to be involved or photographed until the proposal has been accepted. Additionally, proposals should not disrupt other guests, and professional filming is not allowed.

Scattering cremated ashes of loved ones within the parks is strictly prohibited and can result in ejection or a lifetime ban. A specific protocol exists for guests who bring ashes into the park, but scattering is not permitted.
