Disney Cruise Line is set to resume operations from New York City this September, marking its return to the port for the first time in three years. The Disney Wish cruise ship will depart from the city following the conclusion of its European season.
Tracy Wilson, senior vice president and general manager of Disney Cruise Line Operations, stated in a press release that the company is proud to be a leader in family cruising and is delighted to return to a favored guest port in New York. The Disney Wish will provide passengers with seven distinct itineraries, ranging from four to seven nights.
These voyages will include destinations such as Bermuda, known for its pink sand beaches. Some sailings will head north to New England and Canada, with stops planned in Boston, Massachusetts; St. John, New Brunswick; and Halifax, Nova Scotia, offering views of autumnal foliage along the coastline. Another itinerary features a five-night trip to San Juan, Puerto Rico, with a stop in Bermuda. A seven-night Caribbean cruise will visit Aruba, St. Maarten, Bonaire, and Dominica before the ship repositions to its home port in Port Canaveral, Florida. From Port Canaveral, the Disney Wish will operate three- and four-night Bahamian cruises throughout the winter.
News of the new New York City routes has generated discussion among fans and critics online. Some expressed enthusiasm for the return of Disney cruises from the city, while others raised concerns about the cruise line's use of AI in marketing materials. Separately, Disney Cruise Line recently updated its policy regarding the decoration of cabin doors, stating that while personalized magnetic signs for celebrations are permitted, decorations should be limited to doors and not extend to corridor walls or ceilings.
