Disney Acquires Yamaha's California Headquarters for $115 Million
The purchase of the 25-acre Cypress campus is for back-of-house operations as Yamaha relocates its U.S. headquarters to Georgia.
Walt Disney Parks and Resorts US Inc. has acquired Yamaha’s 25-acre headquarters in Cypress, California, for $115.29 million. The deal closed on September 23 and will be used by Disney for "back-of-house operations," which can include functions like laundry and costuming, according to the company.
The acquisition comes as Yamaha prepares to move its U.S. headquarters from Cypress to Kennesaw, Georgia, after nearly five decades at the California site. Yamaha has been at the Cypress campus since 1979 and will lease the property until December 31, 2028, during its relocation process. The company stated this move is part of "structural reforms" intended to improve profitability.
Georgia Governor Brian Kemp welcomed Yamaha’s decision, highlighting his state’s business environment. "This is another loud and clear testament to what we offer job creators from around the world," Kemp said in a statement. "To any other California-based companies looking for a better home, we’ll give you plenty of reasons to keep Georgia on your mind."
The acquired campus encompasses nearly 279,000 square feet of industrial, flex-warehouse, and office space. It occupies a full city block bordered by Katella Avenue, Holder Street, and Yamaha Way, with three points of access. Avison Young represented Yamaha in the transaction, marketing the campus as a significant industrial redevelopment opportunity.
