A man climbed over a garden wall and verbally assaulted Civil War reenactors last weekend in Warwick, England, during an event attended by families and the town mayor. The incident occurred at St. John's House, where the Worcester Reenactors were demonstrating historical activities, including firing matchlock muskets.
The man, identified as James McKay, shouted "F*** off back to Worcester, you're not wanted anymore" and "You're f****** idiots" at the group as they prepared to fire their weapons. His tirade was captured on video, with onlookers expressing shock, particularly noting the presence of children.
One of the reenactors attempted to address McKay, but was reportedly shooed away. McKay is understood to be a juror for the local court leet, an organization that upholds English traditions and, while no longer possessing criminal powers, some still operate ceremonially.
The event, organized by the Worcester Reenactors and promoted by the Warwickshire Museum, aimed to educate the public and recreate aspects of the English Civil War, which took place from August 1642 to September 1651 between Royalist and Parliamentarian forces. The reenactment featured authentic camps, musket fire, drill displays, and crafts, described as family-friendly fun.
