Disgraced Olympian Rohan Dennis has been prohibited from entering his children's primary school in Adelaide, Australia, for the entirety of term three following multiple warnings regarding his conduct toward staff. The ban was upheld after an unsuccessful bid by Dennis to overturn it, according to Adelaide Now.
The Education Department stated that parents can be barred for posing a risk to the safety and well-being of others, causing disruption to the learning environment, or engaging in unreasonable or threatening communication with staff. The department emphasized that barring a parent does not prevent their child from attending school and that alternative arrangements are made for drop-off and collection.
This school ban comes shortly after Dennis pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified. He was reportedly stopped by South Australian police in June with his two young children as passengers, while he was serving a five-year driving ban.
The 36-year-old admitted the offense in Adelaide Magistrates Court, leading to his vehicle being impounded for 28 days and him being charged. The matter has since been referred to the District Court for sentencing, with a court date set for September.
The latest offense occurs just over a year after Dennis received a suspended prison sentence in connection with the death of his wife, fellow Olympian Melissa Hoskins. Hoskins died in December 2023 after being struck by a vehicle driven by Dennis outside their Adelaide home. Prosecutors withdrew charges of dangerous driving causing death and aggravated driving without due care.
In May 2025, Dennis was sentenced to 17 months' imprisonment, suspended on the condition that he enter a two-year good behavior bond. This sentence included a five-year driving disqualification. A judge had warned Dennis that any violation of this suspension would result in jail time.
Rohan Dennis sent both his children to the school in Adelaide's eastern suburbs.
